Science:

Science should be fun. You should see this class as an opportunity for you to learn about the world you live in by asking questions, performing experiments, and maybe even blowing things up. When you were little your parents probably got mad at you for asking to many questions. This class is your chance to ask all the questions you want without getting in trouble. I actually want you to ask questions. Your job in this class is to try your best to find the answers to your questions, and to constantly be asking more questions. Doesn't sound that hard does it?
How To Use This Site:

This website is meant to help you when you are not in class. It is also a place where you can show the rest of the world what you are doing in my class. If you do something you think is cool in science you can come to this website to share your experience with your parents, family, or friends.

This website will also contain information about assignments, lessons, and upcoming events. If you have to miss school you can find out what we did by checking the "Handouts" page.

You can also contact me any time through this website. I will do my best to get back to any emails within 24 hours. Most of the time it will not take me this long to return your emails. However, over weekends and school breaks, it may take me a day to get back to you.

A Little About Me:

I have been teaching my whole life. I am the oldest of ten children and while I have taught more than my fair share of kids how to ride a bike, swim, or water-ski, teaching science is my passion.

I graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelors degree in Biology in 2006. While I was an undergraduate student at UW I worked as an athletic trainer for the women's gymnastics team. While working with the amazing athletes at UW I got to perform rehab and treatment for injuries as well as observe some pretty cool surgeries.

I recieved myMasters in Teaching from the University of Washington in 2008. As part of the Masters program I taught at Eckstein Middle School starting in 2006. In 2007 I spent 16 weeks student teaching in a 6th grade science class at Eckstein, the conclusion of my student teaching experience.

In 2008 I moved to New York where I began working at Claremont Prep. At Claremont I teach 6th and 8th grade science, coach soccer and track, and am involved in many of the other school activities such as color teams.

I have multiple interests outside of teaching, such as swimming (I was captain of the swim team in high school) and ethics debates (I competed in college). I have taught gymnastics, been a lifeguard, a nanny, and I really enjoy traveling to other countries.

I look forward to getting to know all my students and finding out what they are interested in and what they are passionate about. While not all my students think they like science I hope that by the completion of a year in my class they are at least interested in the world around them.
